EW Cover Story - Jaime Foxx's Skin Condition!

Friday's Entertainment Weekly is the big Comic Con Preview issue, and nothing sells a dying medium better than Super Hero Movies!  That right there is the official first image of Jaime Foxx in full-on Electro mode.  And it still looks stupid.  But golly, I am flabbergasted that we're getting an Electro/Rhino teamup next year.....Guardians of the Galaxy.....Ant-Man......Dr. Strange....does anyone else feel like the bubble is gonna burst at any moment?  The Golden Age of Geekdom will soon explode and we'll return to The Land of the Jocks once more?  I hope not, but there are a lot of wild comic book ideas heading to the mainstream and I'm not sure they're as willing as we may think.

Also, does anyone else think that Foxx looks like a Reaper from Blade 2?

Smurf On Set! Jaime Foxx's Electro Revealed!

Oh dear god.  I know these are just set photos and Electro will most likely look a whole helluva lot better on the big screen, but this is certainly not what I want from The Amazing Spider-Man sequel.  Obviously, they are going in a very different direction from the comic book - and that's probably a good thing given Electro's crazy lighting face ridiculousness - but I hate this face paint stuff.  And I don't want this to be Django's next role.  I was certainly not a fan of Marc Webb's original film and now I'm dreading the sequel.  But I bet you Joel Schumacher would approve.

First Image: Captain America - The Winter Soldier

Captain America 2 has begun filming and this is our first glimpse: Chris Evans looking proud in front of some S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem.  As much as I was excited for the original film, the sequel holds almost no excitement for me.  Don't get wrong.  I'll be there opening night and I'm sure I'll get pumped once I see the first trailer.  But right now, all we've got to go on is some production art, this set photo, and the imdb page.  Anthony Mackie as The Falcon.  Man, I can't believe we're gonna get a film co-starring The Falcon.  That is one comic booky character.  Tough sell.  Robert Redford as some G-Man muckity muck.  That guy is the cure for insomnia as far as I'm concerned, but I'm sure he's just this film's Tommy Lee Jones and we won't have to suffer much of his snooze.  The big question is...or are The Russo Brothers, Anthony & Joe, the directors of Welcome to Collinwood and You Me & Dupree.  Yeah.  Not the perfect fit for Cap.  But I'm sure Marvel Studios has no problem keeping their leash on.  The Winter Soldier arc spawned from Ed Brubaker's run on Captain America is bloody fantastic.  Sure, it peters out eventually but those 25 issues leading up to The Death of Captain America are some of the best super hero stories of the last ten years.  I just hope the film can capture a fraction of that gold.

First Look: A Dame To Kill For

Robert Rodriguez has tweeted out a couple of images from his upcoming Sin City sequel, A Dame To Kill For.  Josh Brolin was certainly made for this ultra noir universe, and I really loved how he chewed the scenery for Rodriguez's Planet Terror.  Still, I can't see how this Dwight transforms into the Clive Owen version of the first film, but if Richard Stark's pen can make Parker the Man With The Getaway Face than why can't Rodriguez's camera?

First Image: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

There it is.  The first image released from 20th Century Fox for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to the shockingly good Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  The tagline is "Evolution becomes Revolution."  I totally dig it.  What I want from this sequel is Apes gone Wild.  Time to take over the planet.  And the Apes are gonna need a whole lotta guns to go all Conquest on the Planet of the Apes.  I've enjoyed Matt Reeves as director so far (Cloverfield, Let Me In) but I also don't LOVE either of those films.  Maybe this is just the right material for him to break out and take over my ape loving brain.

Machete Kills: Set Photos Expose Charlie Sheen

Robert Rodriguez tweeted out a batch of Machete Kills set photos yesterday revealing his latest bit of stunt casting:  Charlie Sheen as The President of the United States.  Sure, why not?  He's already got the train wreck that is Mel Gibson on board, and he had some successful fun with dopefiend Lindsay Lohan in the last film.

The Vincent Price Exhibit

Um.  You guys are all following The Vincent Price Exhibit on Facebook, right?  Cuz you seriously don't want to be missing out on amazing photos like the one above.  Apparently it's from a guest spot on a TV show called The Snoop Sisters.  I've never heard of it and based on youtube clips it looks kinda dreadful.  That being said.  That photo above rocked my Facebook timeline this morning and I am all the better for it.

First Look: Pacific Rim

Bam.  There it is.  The first image to come from Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim, and yes, it looks like Idris Alba is preparing to step into his Mech Suit.  Oh yeah.  Giant Monster vs Giant Robots.  First, us geeks were finally blessed with an Avengers film and now it looks like we're going to get our ultimate modern kaiju flick.  Craaaaaaazy.

San Diego Comic Con needs to hurry up and get here--I'm gonna be first in line for that panel.

Photos: Django Unchained

Some more photos from QT's "Southern," Django Unchained and with each new glance from the film I get a little more excited.  Jaime Foxx looks positively amazing as Django and I can't wait to see him unleash his inner Fred Williamson all over Leo's creepy ass slave master.  And, yes, the original Django, Franco Nero appears to be chatting it up with the new Django in Leo's swanky saloon.  Word is that the first trailer for the movie will be attached to next week's Prometheus.  Yet another reason to anticipate the Alien prequel.

First Look: The Cast of Django Unchained

Oh yeah.  Django Unchained is definitely my Number One Must See Movie of 2012.  Please don't disappoint.  Just look at Leo's slave master Calvin Candie!  Looks like we've got another contender for A Fistful of Hammers.  And is Jaime Foxx wearing Fred Williamson's cowboy hat from Take A Hard Ride?  Cannot wait to see a trailer for this "Southern."

Joan Watson Eats A Hotdog

I don't even know if this is worthy of a post or not, but there it is anyway.  Found this image (over at Bleeding Cool) of Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson eating a hotdog on the set of Elementary, the new New York City based Sherlock Holmes show and it just made me sigh.  I've seen the first three episodes of the BBC version and think it's okay, but it's popularity has spawned this...and I'll check it out and give it the old college try, but Joan Watson?  Really?  How modern...blah.  Makes me feel like just another internet hater.

First Look: Tonto & The Lone Ranger

Here's our first real look at Johnny Depp & Armie Hammer as Tonto & The Lone Ranger for Gore Verbinski's new Disney Epic.  Honestly?  I'm not sure if I really like it...or specifically, the look of Depp's Tonto.  Is this going to be another Jack Sparrow character, based in humor?  I don't want that.  But I also never asked for a goofy Green Hornet and I got that and I enjoyed it.  So, the jury is still out and I'm really looking forward to seeing the first trailer.  But the film is not set for release until May 31st of 2013; that's a long way off and it's way too early to freak out about how the Great Mouse is handling one of your favorite properties.  But this is the internet and this is what I do.

Set Photos: Star Trek 2!

Below you'll find the first set photos from next year's most anticipated film, Star Trek 2 from director JJ Abrams.  MTV broke the photos but I found them via Trek Movie who offers some interesting speculation.  The good news is that the Benedict Cumberbatch pictured below definitlely doesn't look like Khan, so hopefully we can put that bad idea to bed.  Personally, I'm putting my money on Gary Mitchell as the villain and I am totally cool with that idea.

In Character: Nicolas Cage is The Ghost Rider!

Finally!  CineComics has posted the first pictures that I've seen of Nicolas Cage in character as The Ghost Rider for Neveldine & Taylor's Spirit of Vengeance.  For the first film Cage only played the Johnny Blaze moments and the actual Ghost Rider was played by a stuntman.  For the new movie the Crank boys wanted Cage to be The Ghost Rider, so Cage had to kabuki up and get into character.

And Neveldine & Taylor tweeted this amazing quote from Nic Cage earlier today:

Set Photos: Django Unchained

Actor Garrett Dillahunt just tweeted the below photos of the Django Unchained set photos.  First off, I didn't know Dillahunt was on Twitter.  Win.  Second, that's the same set used for HBO's Deadwood (my all time favorite television show) the Santa Clarita Melody Ranch.

Django Unchained comes out Christmas Day and yes, it's still my most anticipated film of 2012.  Again, look at this cast:  Leonardo DiCaprio, Jaime Foxx, Sacha Baron Cohen, Samuel L Jackson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christoph Waltz, Kurt Russell, Walton Goggins, James Remar, Kerry Washington, Rza, Don Johnson, Gerald McRaney, Anthony LaPaglia, MC Gainey, and Tom Savini.  Holy Cow, has a cooler cast ever been collected.

Elijah Wood is MANIAC!

Geek Tyrant has posted some set photos from the upcoming remake of Maniac starring Elijah Wood.  Man, I can't believer they're remaking Maniac AND I CAN'T BELIEVE ELIJAH WOOD IS IN THE JOE SPINELL ROLL!?!?!?!?  What is this new movie going to be like?  When I first discovered splattery horror films in high school, Maniac was one of the first flicks to truly bother me.  As a High Schooler you don't want to admit that anything gets to you and I would watch Maniac with my friends and put on a brave pizza face.  But Maniac messed me up.  Spinell is scary as all hell.  And Tom Savini's gore effects are top notch gross.  It's the type of movie I don't really have room for in my brain any more and I probably have no space for this new one.  Curious to see a trailer, but I don't think this is gonna be on 2012's Must See list.
