EW Cover Story - Jaime Foxx's Skin Condition!

Friday's Entertainment Weekly is the big Comic Con Preview issue, and nothing sells a dying medium better than Super Hero Movies!  That right there is the official first image of Jaime Foxx in full-on Electro mode.  And it still looks stupid.  But golly, I am flabbergasted that we're getting an Electro/Rhino teamup next year.....Guardians of the Galaxy.....Ant-Man......Dr. Strange....does anyone else feel like the bubble is gonna burst at any moment?  The Golden Age of Geekdom will soon explode and we'll return to The Land of the Jocks once more?  I hope not, but there are a lot of wild comic book ideas heading to the mainstream and I'm not sure they're as willing as we may think.

Also, does anyone else think that Foxx looks like a Reaper from Blade 2?

Smurf On Set! Jaime Foxx's Electro Revealed!

Oh dear god.  I know these are just set photos and Electro will most likely look a whole helluva lot better on the big screen, but this is certainly not what I want from The Amazing Spider-Man sequel.  Obviously, they are going in a very different direction from the comic book - and that's probably a good thing given Electro's crazy lighting face ridiculousness - but I hate this face paint stuff.  And I don't want this to be Django's next role.  I was certainly not a fan of Marc Webb's original film and now I'm dreading the sequel.  But I bet you Joel Schumacher would approve.

Dork Art: Mondo Spider-Man

So Mondo & IMAX have teamed up again (after their first John Carter partnership) for this special Midnight Release poster from artist Laurent Durieux!  And you know what?  I think this might be my least favorite print ever produced by Mondo.  It's just so blah and obvious.  But I also can't really say I'm super excited for this reboot.  I'm loving the Ultimate comics right now but this movie just seems like more of the same.

Trailer: The Amazing Spider-Man's Untold Story Begins

Surprisingly, a lot of this footage in the below trailer is not what we saw at the San Diego Comic Con.  I like seeing Dennis Leary's Captain Stacey and I imagine this could provide for a lot of fun (but will he meet his comic counterpart's fate?)  And I'm quite pleased by Spidey's quipster dialog, which was an element sorely missed in the Sam Raimi flicks.  Still, all this Untold Story business feels very 90s Spider-Man and his parents backstory is incredibly lame.  Hope this flick doesn't get too hung up on that mumbo jumbo.

Posters: Spidey Banners

Now this is more like it.  These banners are a bit Marvel generic, but I much prefer these bright colors to that moody black teaser poster released last week.  I don't want this new Spider-Man to be a goofy mess like the Raimi films, but I also don't want it to be Marc Webb hipster emoness either.  Spidey's gotta be fun.

Poster: The Amazing Spider-Man

As much as I was impressed by the San Diego Comic Con footage of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, I am really not enthused by the film's marketing campaign.  The teaser trailer was meh at best and this new poster (found via Super Hero Hype) is far too dark for my Spidey tastes.  Still, I'm mildly looking forward to the film next year as I once claimed Peter Parker to be my favorite comic book character.
