Dork Art: Justin White's Rated G - The Sequel
Here's another helping of Justin White's devilishly cartoony genre makeovers. Rated G - The Sequel will be showing at Gallery 1988 through September 14th. Again, why does LA get to have all the fun? The 2001 monkey madness print might be my favorite, but the smiley American Psycho is a close second. You can buy some of the prints on the Gallery 1988 website, and you can explore other Mickey Mouse interpretations over at Crome Yellow. Good stuff.

Dork Art: The Almost Supermen
Artist Jeremy Wheeler recently wrote an article for Esquire Magazine entitled, "The Men Who Were Almost Superman." It's a fun little blog post detailing the near misses with actors Dustin Hoffman, Robert Redford, Sylvester Stallone, Harrison Ford, Nicolas Cage, Christian Bale, and Joe Manganiello. Because I'm a sickie, the only alternate version of Superman I would have ever wanted to see would have been Cage's long-haired, giant-spider bashing version. Kevin Smith has made that failed script the stuff of legend, and I can only imagine how horrifyingly twee Tim Burton would have saturated the much beloved Man of Steel. I do think that Christian Bale could have pulled off Supes...maybe not Clark Kent, but his Man of Steel seems the most plausible out of the bunch. Thanks to Crome Yellow for the heads up.

Dork Art: The Evolution of Batman
Terrifying, I know. Artist Anthony Geoffroy shows us the horrifying evolution of the Batman movie franchise through a series of creepy ass caricatures. The George Clooney brings the largest smile to my face and the Val Kilmer scares me the most. You can find them at the Behance Network.

Dork Art: Dark Knight Rises Fan Art Obsessing!
I can't stop thinking about The Dark Knight Rises. I've seen it three times now. I went from liking the flick to loving it. It's still my least favorite of the three and I still have issues with the last fifteen minutes of the film, but I can get over it. Wish the internet would too. Course, that's never going to happen.
But since seeing it again a few days ago in IMAX I've been trolling the internet for Dark Knight Dork Art and these are some of my favorite pieces I've found so far. I haven't done this since last year's Drive, so that's gotta say something about my enthusiasm. Given how crappy 2012 has been for movies, I expect to see Dark Knight Rises somewhere on my Best List.

Dork Art: Olly Moss' The Dark Knight Rises
I'M BACK!
And I cannot wait to share all my Comic Con experiences here on the blog. Never again will I leave my laptop behind! You guys crave up to the minute reportage, and I really hope you were following the @MouthDork twitter feed for all the crazy Comic Con shenanigans.
But before I post my last couple of Weeks in Dork I thought I'd dip my toes back into the ITMOD shallow end with this rather exciting announcement from Mondo.
For today, and today only, you have the opportunity to own the above Olly Moss Dark Knight print. That's right, rather than the usual seconds to purchase a Mondo print you have A WHOLE DAY! The print run is limited to the amount of folks who get to clicking. I've already ordered mine, you should too. More details can be found on their blog.
Is this the wave of Mondo's future? I'm guessing if this Dark Knight poster is a success (and undoubtably it will be) than we can expect a whole slew of similar releases. And I'm totally happy with that. Mondo has reached an all time high as far as public awareness is concerned. With licensing deals with Warner Brothers and Disney, the public is screaming for their Game of Thrones and Adventure Time prints. Just last year I could walk up to the Mondo booth at Comic Con with no problem. This year, the line to purchase a print was wrapping around the walls of the exhibit hall. It's a brave new world for Mondo and it's time to make hay.

Fan Made Poster: The Dark Knight Trilogy
A pretty cool fan made poster for Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. It's definitely just as good as some of the crappy posters Warner Brothers has been shelling out for the films. Man. I really hope Dark Knight Rises doesn't disappoint like Prometheus. I need a killer film here people. My dork heart won't be able to take a failure. Anticipation is a bitch.

These Dark Knight Rises Banners Are Epic!
Now these are really cool banners. Much, much better than what we've been seeing from Warner Brothers lately. Personally, I think that top banner is super badass and I would love to string that up outside my house. And the second banner with Bats on the squad car is really cool as well. So glad to see some "art" worthy of this series. Still, I would prefer some kinda Drew Struzan painted poster to top off this series. Or have Mondo take a crack at it.
