"What Would You Sacrifice?" - Chris Hemsworth Is Truly Desperate in Thor 2 Trailer

Before The Avengers melted my comic geek brain, Thor was my favorite of the Marvel Studios movies.  A real shock given my complete lack of knowledge regarding the character, but that ignorance probably helped keep the poisonous fanboy enthusiasm in check which in turn allowed for a baggageless movie watching experience.  Now the world is different.  The Avengers changed my entire outlook regarding this cinematic worldbuilding.  I've drunk the Kool-Aid and now I will greatly anticipate every Marvel release until the end of time -- Let's Go Rocket Raccoon!!!!!!!

The Thor sequel has something to do with Dark Elves (led my the latexed Christopher Eccleston) and the evil that existed before time blah, blah, blah.  What interests me in the UK trailer is the great swathes of Asgardian battlefields and Loki's Hannibal Lector routine behind glass.  I'm sure we're gonna get plenty of Earth, but the fish-outta-water comedy of the first film appears to be absent and the stakes look properly high for the Norse Gods.  Kenneth Branagh's dutch angles are gone.  Replaced by Alan Taylor's television point & shoot.  That being said, Taylor has directed some of my favorite episodes of Homicide: Life on the Street (Autofocus, The Wedding) as well as The Sopranos, Lost, Mad Men, Bored to Death, and Game of Thrones.  That last credit is obviously what got the man the job.  So yeah, I'm excited for the fall.

Dinner is Served - Hannibal Teaser Trailer

Below is the first trailer for NBC's utterly preposterous Hannibal Lecter show.  Yes, I do think the casting of Mads Mikkelsen in the role of Hannibal The Cannibal is rather inspired and I am oh so curious to see the results, but the idea of a Red Dragon prequel brings great eye rolls from this one time Thomas Harris fanboy and I seriously don't want to watch another angry Will Graham G-Man wringing his hands around the crime scene.

"Kimosabe, I need you" Red 2 Promises Helen Miran Acid Bath!

Below is the first teaser trailer for Red 2.  A film I cannot believe exists.  But the fact that it got a greenlight makes me very, very happy.  John Malkovich lures Bruce Willis outta G-Man retirement once more.  This time to...um, I don't know what the plot is.  Only thing I can figure is that a whole bunch of new bad guys need killing and Willis & Co aim to deliver.  Byung Hun Lee seems to have replaced Karl Urban as the bad guy heavy and as much as I enjoy Storm Shadow, I'm gonna miss my frowny faced Dredd.  His knuckle brawl battle in the first film was a surprising duster reminiscent of old timey fisticuffs.

Alfred Hitchcock Gets Psycho For Texting

I'm kinda surprised by myself.  Two months ago I could not care less about the Alfred Hitchcock bio.  But having now watched the trailers a few times and this ridiculously silly PSA - I think I'm in love with Anthony Hopkins' goofy performance.  There just seems to be so much love and fun behind the film.  I might need to start blitzing through Hitch's films.

Hitchcock - The Movie!

Here's the trailer for the Hitch bio.  Makes me smile.  Much more so than I thought it would.  I'm so glad that it's focused on the making of Psycho.  None of this rise of fame bio nonsense that makes me nauseous.  Hopkins certainly seems like he's having fun playing the madman.  And Scar Jo is nowhere near as awkward in the part as I had feared.  Genuinely looking forward to it.  Right around the corner too.

Poster: Hitchcock

I'm definitely curious about this Hitch bio (as well as HBO's competing Toby Jones flick), but the other part of me wonders if there is a compelling story to be told regarding the production of Psycho.  I do prefer the focussed timeline of the story rather than a "Hitch, This Is Your Life" epic, but is there a film here that needs to be told?  Wouldn't you rather just watch Pscyho again?  Still need to see a trailer before I get all in a huff.
