Dork Art: Hero Complex's Gallery Show "Arch Nemesis" Hits L.A.

This Friday, the Hero Complex gallery will be hosting their Arch Nemesis show in Los Angelas.  I certainly won't be making that trip, but thanks to Crome Yellow we can enjoy a nice little preview.  Artists such as Marko Manev, Paul Shipper, Matt Ferguson, Michael Latimer, Eric Dyer, and Matt Tobin will have work on display and their topics range from the Caped Crusader to Optimus Prime to The Wizard of Oz.  A lot of good pieces, but Manev's Joker seen above is my absolute favorite.  Really damn scary.  And Rey Taira's Hall of Justice painting seen all the way down at the bottom?  I saw that in person at last year at Comic Con.  It's a real beaut too.

Dork Art: Mars Attacks Judge Dredd!

Have you been paying attention in your local comic shops this month?  Mars is Attacking Everyone!  Comic publisher IDW is pitting our favorite Ack Ackers against the rock band KISS, Transformers, The Real Ghostbusters, Chew, Popeye (yes, Popeye) and Judge Dredd.  I'm not sure I want to shell out the cash for all these tie-ins, but I definitely appreciate the bonkers attitude.  Especially this beautiful image posted above.  What are those poor Martian devils thinking going up against Mega City One's toughest lawman.  Those buggers don't have a chance.

Another real stunner from Francesco Francavilla.  I'm getting pretty gosh darn excited for his appearance at this year's Baltimore Comic Con; can't wait to get him & Scott Snyder to sign my Black Mirror trade.

Dork Art: Norman Saunders' Batman Trading Cards

Geek Art just posted these old Topps Trading cards from Norman Saunders (the genius behind Mars Attacks!) depicting the very 60s adventures of Batman & Robin.  My absolute fave is the above Shark Attack card in which Bats uses his knife instead of his trusted Shark Repellent spray.
