Dork Art: The Fiend Walks Among Us

Dork Art: NYCC Hasbro Exclusives!

Now this, on the other hand, makes me all kinds of happy.  Hasbro has scored artists Tom Whalen & Dave Perillo to whip up a couple of exclusive prints for the New York Comic Con.  Whalen gives us the Autobots & the Decepticons, while it's Perillo's hand representing the sunny disposition of the Joe/Cobra conflict.  Too cool for school.  All four prints will be available at the show running Oct 11-14th; the Whalens will set you back $50 a piece and the Perillos run $45.

Dork Art: Around the World in an 80s Daze

I really wish I lived near one of Gallery 1988's showroom locations.  I'd love to see these prints in person.  Artists Tom Whalen & Dave Perillo have partnered up for a series of Travel posters entitled Around the World in an 80s Daze.  Genius.  Of course, my favorite is the above Halloween III tribute but you gotta love the postcard greetings from Predator's (& Commando!) Val Verde and Robocop's Delta City.

Dork Art: Mondo's Paranorman

Tom Whalen, Mondo's go-to guy for all kid friendly properties, is at it again with this Paranorman print that goes on sale at some random time next week...I'm guessing the Thursday before the film's release.  No word on sizes or prices.  I don't have a burning desire to see this flick but I'm definitely curious.  I do love scary kids films and I do love stop motion animation.  So fingers crossed we get a good flick here.  That being said, I will never fight for a Mondo print from a film I've yet to see.  That's crazy.

Dork Art: Mondo's Avengers

Here are the first two (of seven) posters that Mondo is releasing for Marvel's The Avengers.  The Hawkeye is from Tom Whalen and goes on sale 4/20.  The Black Widow is from Olly Moss and hits 4/19.  Not really crazy about either of these two but I eagerly await the Captain America and I'm guessing...Tyler Stout Avengers.

Dork Art: Mondo Celebrates The Oscars

This is rather interesting.  Mondo is marking the 84th Academy Awards with a Four Poster series highlighting four of their favorite nominees in four of their favorite categories.  First up we have Tom Whalen's 18 x 24 Rango for the Best Animated Feature category.  And for the Best Picture category we've got Kevin Tong's two Hugo variants.  I like Whalen's Rango and I think it would look great next to his Mondo Disney prints, but I don't have those and I'm not really chomping at the bit for this one on its own.  Tong's Hugos are pretty but don't really grab me either.  But I'm definitely curious to see what's next.

Dork Art: Away Mission Orlando

Recent Mondo fave Tom Whalen did this schizo print for Vulcan Events' Away Mission Orlando Star Trek convention.  Currently, the poster is available for pre-order attendees only but hopefully Whalen or somebody (or ebay) will have it available for the rest of us Trekkies soon after.  Print measures 16 x 24, is limited to just 125 copies, and it's a lovely silkscreen.

Dork Art: Mondo Trek! (& Bottle Rocket)

As much as I love Mondo, I love Star Trek even more and as much as I love the Mondo Star Trek prints they just haven't been coming out fast enough to please this crazed fan.  I mean come on!, when they were putting out Star Wars prints it seemed like we got a new one every other week!  Gar!  Stupid Lucas Fans!  Okay Brad, breath.  The trickle effect is good.  Keep 'em coming Mondo and I'll keep buying, even if I have to troll the dark depths of ebay to make it happen.

Anyway, I absolutely love this latest one inspired by the black & white cookie episode "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" and done up by new Mondo regular Tom Whalen.  The print will measure 18 x 24 and will cost you $40 bucks if you're quick enough.  As usual, it goes on sale at a random time blah, blah, blah.  Good luck.  Also, tomorrow they'll be releaseing the below Bottle Rocket print by Rich Kelly.  It's nice but that's the one Wes Anderson flick I have trouble mustering up the dorkgasm for.  I'm gonna pass.
