Dork Art: Phil Noto Into Darkness

Comic book artist Phil Noto is no stranger to Trekkie glee.  The man has put out several great pieces celebrating Where No Man Has Gone Before, but I think this is the first time he's attempted an illustrated poster for the series.  He seems to be channeling a bit of Olly Moss here with the plunging Delta Shield cutting a swath through the ocean shenanigans glimpsed in the eight minute prologue.  I dig it.  And I love the tagline, "You Think Your World Is Safe?"

Dork Art: Planet of the Apes - Cataclysm

After some success with their Planet of the Apes minis, Boom Studios is taking the plunge with an ongoing series subtitled Cataclysm.  Set eight years before the events of the original Chuck Heston film the story appears to be focusing on the terror of the Alpha & Omega bomb and the slipping political grip of Dr. Zaius.

Here's the official synopsis:

Sounds fun enough to me.  But to be honest, I'm just really excited about the Phil Noto & Alex Ross variant covers shown above.  Posters please.

Over on his Tumblr, Phil Noto posted this image with only this qualifier, "Highly Illogical."  First, he was mashing up Star Wars & Star Trek and now we've got Trek & Planet of the Apes.  This Noto guy is after my heart, I know it.

Dork Art: Thundaar The Barbarian!

Comic Book artist Phil Noto just posted this beautiful Thundaar The Barbarian sketch over on his Your Nice New Outfit blog and it makes me 12 Year Old Giddy.  I've loved his recent Star Trek pieces, but this one really hits a special place in my heart.  Need to get myself over to The Warner Archive and snatch up the DVD set.
