Dork Art: Batman 1972

Dork Favorite, Francesco Francavilla is currently cooking an Elseworld's that drops the Batman Mythology into the magical realm of 1972....huh.  Well, Bat's has been shown kicking it with a Cold War Superman.  He's hunted the steampunk lamps of merry old England.  He's even been portrayed as an honest-to-goodness bloodsucking creature of the night.  But he's definitely never been given the grindhouse, 70s exploitation pimped-out treatment.  Should be no surprise to anyone who knows us, but that is a freaking AWESOME idea, and I really hope DC lets the madman do his thing.  At the very least, I'd like some prints - especially one for the above Catwoman.

Sofia Vergara Blasts Here Rack - New Machete Kills Character Poster

So...that's something.  Robert Rodriguez seems to be seriously pushing the insanity for this Danny Trejo sequel - he's got to top the Gatling Gun Harley and the large intestine bungee cord.  I guess I enjoyed the first film and the Grindhouse double feature, but they always felt like pretenders to the throne.  Especially when you compare them to something like Jason Eisner's Hobo With The Shotgun or better yet, Neveldine/Taylor's Crank 2: Hight Voltage.  Or even Rodriguez's Desperado.  How come none of his follow-up films feel as genuine as that flick did?

TRAILER WAR!!!!!!

Drafthouse Films and the American Genre Film Archive have partnered up for Trailer War!  A feature length compilation of the very best exploitation trailers of yesteryear.  Looks like its similar to the 42nd Street Forever dvds, but the Alamo Drafthouse is ready to take this theatrically in December.  Man, their DC theater need to hurry up and open already.
