"Taco Time!" - New Machete Kills Trailer Looks Cheap & Stupid...I'm There.

The below international trailer for Machete Kills looks dirt cheap and kinda terrible.  Gone is the Grindhouse grit of the original wannabe, but Robert Rodriguez is cramming this B Movie with as many friends as he can - Danny Trejo! Antonio Banderas! William Sadler! Jessica Alba! Charlie Sheen! Mel Gibson! Amber Heard! Michelle Rodriguez! Lady Gaga!  The film can't pay well, so it must be super fun to be part of Rodriguez's DIY process.   The first film was no great exploitation film, but it had it's own special charm, and yeah, I wish Rodriguez was doing bigger & better projects but we're just gonna have to settle for silly, stupid fun.  Sheen - POTUS.  Yeah, ok.

Introducing Carlos Estevez!

Yes!  The first film introduced Don Johnson to the world, and now Machete Kills will bring us Carlos Estevez!  For the first time in his career Charlie Sheen will be billed by his birth name.  It's so dang silly, but I love it.  The first Machete film was not great cinema, it was barely a great B Movie, but at it's very least Machete was a fun night out for the MST3K crowd.  I've kind of given up on Robert Rodriguez at this point.  His obsession with DIY filmmaking has resulted in a batch of cheap looking films with mediocre to poor scripts.  Where is the guy who brought us Desperado & From Dusk Till Dawn.  Balls to the wall action that elevated the violence to 70s Grindhouse absurdity?  He's got the absurdity down, sure, but I miss the bang and the buck.

Poster: Machete Kills Lady Gaga!

Robert Rodriguez just announced via Twitter that Lady Gaga has joined Machete Kills!  And here's the poster to prove it.  Yep.  That seems about right to me.  Machete Kills is gearing up to have one of the nuttier casts in cinema history...at least as far as train wrecks are concerned.

Machete Kills: Set Photos Expose Charlie Sheen

Robert Rodriguez tweeted out a batch of Machete Kills set photos yesterday revealing his latest bit of stunt casting:  Charlie Sheen as The President of the United States.  Sure, why not?  He's already got the train wreck that is Mel Gibson on board, and he had some successful fun with dopefiend Lindsay Lohan in the last film.
