"You Will Be The Last!" - The Hugo Kid is a New Kind of Solider in this first Ender's Game Trailer
I've never read the book. I have met Orson Scott Card for about ten minutes of my life; he was a nice enough man despite his insane morals & opinions. So I'm not one of those kids freaking out about Hollywood's latest adaptation. But like Matt, I'm always rooting for big sci-fi movies. Fingers crossed on this one. Can't really say the trailer grabs me. Ben Kingsley & Harrison Ford cashing their supporting role check. As much as I loved Martin Scorsese's Hugo, I can't say that Asa Butterfield gave an amazing performance and it looks like he'll have even more greenscreen to act against. I did really appreciate Hailee Steinfeld in the Coen's True Grit, and hopefully they'll pair well. The director is Gavin Hood, the man who helmed the abomination known as X-Men Origins - Wolverine. One of the absolute worst comic book movies to ever seer my vision. I'd watch Ghost Rider 1 a hundred times before I pained myself with that flop again. So...that's troubling.

Dork Art: Mondo's Iron Man 3
As they've done with every Marvel movie a week out, Mondo has unveiled their Iron Man 3 poster...or posters. The above one comes to us from artist Martin Ansin, measures 24 x 36 & will set you back $50 (the variant running the typical $75). The poster featured directly below is from Phantom City Creative, measures 24 x 36, and costs a pretty $45. Frankly, I'm not in love with either of them. In fact, I think the IMAX Midnight Release print seen at the very bottom has them both trumped. The general problem with these pre-release posters is that the art stems only from the trailer imagery. They feel more like teasers than full-on celebrations of the films. You look at the prints Mondo did for The Monster Squad or Battle Royale, and those images encompass the whole film. These are little more than press releases.

Tony Stark Builds Neat Stuff For Good Old Fashion Revenge - Iron Man 3 Final Trailer Is Rad!
President William Sadler takes the podium: "The Mandarin Must Be Stopped." Hell to the yeah. Iron Man finally gets his Big Bad Nemesis. No Jeff Bridges mongering. No Mickey Rourke drooling. Straight up Shakespearean villainy. I think Shane Black is going to knock all us fanboys on our asses. I immediately want to pop in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. We're gonna get the Tony Stark snark, but we're also gonna get a whole heap of battered heroism. Not to mention Iron Man drones and possibly a Hulk Buster. If you watch this trailer and tell me you aren't pumped for May 3rd than just pucker up and enjoy the next Jane Austen retelling. But if you ask me, it looks like Marvel Studios totally understands how to follow the Epic Brawl of The Avengers - get personal, get Khaned.

The Mandarin Takes A Seat For New Iron Man 3 Poster
Ben Kingsley is a big question mark for Iron Man 3. I like the crazy accent he's putting on in the trailer and his general look is interesting. But there has to be a lot of interpretation at work in the screenplay. In the comics, The Mandarin is a mystical warrior - a magician who derives his power from the ten rings wrapped around his knuckles. But I don't think the sorcery vs. science angle is going to fly in the Iron Man universe established in parts 1 & 2...of course, Thor & The Avengers shines some new genre light on this property and we are going to get a film next year starring a wise cracking raccoon, so who the hell really knows?
