Dork Art: Batman & Robin like a Rolling Stone

Oh.  My.  God.  I love this so much.  Artist Marco D'Alfonso has done it again, the man is just a monster when it comes to satirizing The Dark Knight.  Batman & Robin is an easy film to hate on.  It's terrible.  But then I met my buddy Robert, and he showed me the light when it comes to liking this fabulously neon beauty.  Batman, you see, can withstand a myriad of interpretations.  Not everything has to be Frank Miller.  In fact, thank god that's not the case.  Give us Adam West!  Give us The Brave & The Bold!  Give us Christian Bale!  Give us Batfleck!  Don't worry!  If it's not to your liking, The Dark Knight will morph again soon enough.  If you're reading this, I'm pretty sure you already have your favorite Batman.  So why don't you give Joel Schumacher's weird ass flick another try?  You might roll your eyes, but I'm betting you'll get a good laugh and some serious enjoyment.

Comic Review: Batman and Robin - Born to Kill

    One of the better New 52 first issues I read was Batman and Robin.  So, I decided to give the first trade a try.  It’s pretty good.  A story about a father who was absent from much of his son’s life, and now finds himself struggling with his new role.  And the story of a young boy who has known nothing but the harsh and brutal side of the world confronted with what he sees as a naïve code of honor and the damaged goods father who preaches it.

    There’s nothing especially amazing about any of this, but it’s all perfectly well done.  Few profound ideas or issues.  Nothing really striking, visually.  Nothing to make me say, ‘go right out and buy this.’  But it’s a totally adequate comic involving Batman.  If you want to read some more Batman, here’s some that’s good.

    Alfred gets a lot of time in this volume, which is fun.  And there’s stuff about a dog.  Is this gonna be a Bat-Dog?  The villain looks cool, like something out of Metal Gear Solid.  But while his connection to Bruce/Batman is interesting, he is not.  The thing I’m curios about after reading this is, what’s up with the whole Batman & Talia thing?  I’m assuming it was dealt with somewhere else in the vast number of Batman comics out there.  But that seems like it might be an interesting story, and I sure as heck haven’t read it.
