Dork Art: Matt Ferguson's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Yesterday I posted the latest trailer for Matt Reaves's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and already master pop artist Matt Ferguson snatched an insta-icnonic moment from the film for his latest poster print.  One image and BOOM!  Man is done for, this is truly the Planet of the Apes.  I am all a tingle for this film.  I immediately want to marathon the original films.  July can't get here soon enough.

Dork Art: The Poster Posse Battles The Winter Soldier For Internet Supremacy

Just moments ago, Cromeyellow posted a batch of Winter Soldier art from the self-proclaimed Poster Posse aka Matt Ferguson, Berkay Dagar, Doaly (the image above), Patrick Connan, Rich Davies, Florey, Harlan Elam, Erin Gallagher, John Hughes, Robert Bruno, Matt Needle, etc, etc.  It's a wide range of style and technique; below you'll find a few of my favorites.  April will bring the Captain America sequel to us, and I'm really hoping the film delivers the promise of the trailers as well as Ed Brubaker & Steve Epting's original comic.  I hope it's not just a repeat of Star Trek Into Darkness....I can't really handle that emotionally right now.  2014 you're my only hope.

Dork Art: Pacific Rim

I just made a terrible pack with a group of friends - we agreed not to see Pacific Rim until the very last night of the San Diego Comic Con.  That means I'll have to wait nine days......uh.....I don't think I'll be able to last - shhhhhhh, don't tell them.  I've gone on a complete blackout regarding Guillermo Del Toro's latest.  I've seen last year's Comic Con footage and the first two theatrical trailers.  That's it.  I want nothing to be spoiled.  I'm even holding off reading the graphic novel prequel till after.  I am super excited.

There has been a lot of Dork Art surrounding this picture too.  Recently the IMAX poster was unveiled - a solid piece - and Odd City Entertainment announced a series of fan posters to be sold as we get closer to the big day.  However, the absolute best piece of Dork Art has to go to Matt Ferguson's Jaws homage.  "They're Gonna Need GIANT Robots!!!!!"  Yer damn right.  And I'm gonna need that on my wall pronto....

Dork Art: Geek-Art's Final Frontier

Gonna be in Paris from June 3-30th?  Well, stop on by Geek-Art's Final Frontier art show for a stunning tribute to Television's most enduring franchise.  Looks like we've got a couple of beauties from Paul Shipper and Matt Ferguson, as well as Nicolas Beaujouan, Sam Ho, and Patrick Connan.  No matter what my feelings are towards Star Trek Into Darkness, it's always good to see so much love for Star Trek in the community.  And I really do dig the hell outta Josh LN's Into Darkness skeleton quote print.  If I had only enjoyed the film a little bit more I would totally want that up on my apartment wall.

Dork Art: Hero Complex's Gallery Show "Arch Nemesis" Hits L.A.

This Friday, the Hero Complex gallery will be hosting their Arch Nemesis show in Los Angelas.  I certainly won't be making that trip, but thanks to Crome Yellow we can enjoy a nice little preview.  Artists such as Marko Manev, Paul Shipper, Matt Ferguson, Michael Latimer, Eric Dyer, and Matt Tobin will have work on display and their topics range from the Caped Crusader to Optimus Prime to The Wizard of Oz.  A lot of good pieces, but Manev's Joker seen above is my absolute favorite.  Really damn scary.  And Rey Taira's Hall of Justice painting seen all the way down at the bottom?  I saw that in person at last year at Comic Con.  It's a real beaut too.
